Q The Transition from Prison to Community and its effectiveness- A policy proposal to make the community and workplace a safe place for ex-prisoners with the aim of reducing recidivism
A huge plethora of men and women get incarcerated in United States of America every year. This is definitely a matter to ponder upon. But a more pressing and immediate issue is how to make the re-entry for these people successful when they complete their punishment and ready to come out of four walls. This is a humongous challenge. The obstacles coming in the path of success is manifold- physical, social, psychological and economical. I will talk about the attitude here. We consider these ex-prisoners as “good for nothing”, a burden of the society. So, when they make the re-entry, we the citizens start behaving extremely oddly, with extra caution and we just don’t want them near us.
